On December 5, 2017 the Hartford Medical Society Board met. Here are the highlights of that meeting.

Dr. Jackie Lyon was appointed as Treasurer allowing Dr. Mick Bedard to serve as a Trustee of the society.

The 2017-2018 Budget was approved.

A new initiative discussed by the board is to host a marquee-level speaker with the help of the UConn Health facility. An amount of $10,000 was budgeted to cover speaker fees for the 2018 event.

The board identified the parameters for two programs to help medical students: the HMS Summer Fellow and a UConn Medical Student Research Day award. The HMS Summer Fellow is a $3,000 fellowship to help a UConn medical student perform research that benefits the application to and growth of community medicine. The UConn Student Research Day award will give one $500 award to recognize the most effective research to advance community medicine. This award will be given by a committee of HMS during UConn’s Annual Student Research Day.

The board approved the management contact with Association Resources for three more years.
