He joined Hartford Healthcare at the onset of the COVID pandemic and was honored and to lead and navigate the health system through the crisis. As the Chief Epidemiologist, he works hand-in-hand with Infection Prevention and has helped position the healthcare system as one of the safest in the United States, by reducing Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI’s), as well as reducing inappropriate antimicrobial utilization (Antimicrobial Stewardship), as evidenced by one of the country’s top Leapfrog safety scores. This culminated in the awarding of the American Hospital Association (AHA) Quest for Quality award in 2025, which is awarded to a single United States hospital in the country. Even though his work on Hospital Acquired Infections and Antimicrobial Stewardship were only a small part of the work, he was honored to collaborate with a talented team across the entire health system. He completed his residency in Delaware and served as a Chief Medical Resident in Chicago before completing his Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Rush University / John H. Stroger JR. Hospital of Cook County. He then went on to pursue several months of additional medical training in Allergy and Immunology at Louisiana State University (LSU) whereupon he joined the LSU faculty as an Assistant Professor where he also served as the Infectious Disease Fellowship Director and the Associate Program Director of Infectious Diseases. Upon his move to Connecticut, he joined New Britain General / The Hospital of Central Connecticut. It was during this time that he joined the faculty of the University of Connecticut, and later the Frank H. Netter Quinnipiac School of Medicine as an Associate Professor. He then joined Trinity Health to serve as the Chief of Infectious Diseases at Saint Francis Hospital, Johnson Memorial Hospital, and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Center prior to his joining of Hartford Healthcare at the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
