Annual Meeting 2023

Join the Hartford Medical Society on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at West Hartford’s Pond House Café for an evening of reflection, learning, and fun at our Annual Meeting celebration.  

Our Annual Meeting is the perfect opportunity to see the successes of the past, learn what we have in store for the coming year, and lend your voice to our association’s efforts.  

Attendees and their guests are invited to mingle with peers over dinner with complimentary beer and wine while learning about the emerging field of AI in Medicine from a leading expert.

Artificial Intelligence is becoming more prevalent in all parts of our lives, and many are fearful that advancements will take over existing jobs. According to Dr. Krzysztof Laudanski, the answer here isn't black and white: Artificial Intelligence has its place in our work when used responsibly.

When designed properly, AI does an excellent job making impartial decisions based on large datasets, but there's still room for humans to interpret this data with bias to catch errors and edge cases. This new technology offers the opportunity to serve as an efficient and important check to our decisions. Perhaps the greatest potential for AI in medicine is to get doctors and other healthcare professionals out of offices and back to patient bedsides. If we can automate and increase efficiency in repetitive tasks, we all will be able to spend more time making a personal connection with our patients.

Artificial Intelligence is not science fiction; it is here, and we need to be ready to properly implement this technology for the sake of both us and our patients. The Hartford Medical Society is grateful to Dr. Laudanski for his time and knowledge on this important subject, and we're very excited to learn from him on what the life and career of a healthcare professional will look like in the future.
