Recognizing Our Past and Honoring Our Future: 2023 Award Celebration

Each year, the Hartford Medical Society brings the past and present together through webinars and educational events to honor Connecticut’s medical history. As we continue to preserve our past to pave the way for the future, we’re thrilled to announce our upcoming 2023 Award Celebration at the historical Mark Twain House in Hartford on May 18.  

During the event, we will announce the award honorees of the HMS Loving Cup Award, the Dr. Gurdon D. Russell Supporter Award, and the Horace Wells Humanitarian Awards. These awards celebrate how far we have come since our inception and our future trajectory together.  

The HMS Loving Cup award recognizes a longtime member who has dedicated their time and talent to the Hartford Medical Society, while the Supporter Award recognizes a member dedicated to selfless service and the continued betterment of the Hartford Medical Society.  

While the Loving Cup has been a staple of HMS history, the Horace Wells Humanitarian Awards are a new edition honoring the work and selflessness of medical professionals across the state. We are seeking to honor three distingushed individuals for their contributions to the betterment of the Greater Hartford Area through our Horace Wells Humanitarian Awards. We look forward to recognizing individuals who better the world and our local community through volunteer efforts, humanitarian support, and exemplary growth as a medical student or resident. The Humanitarian Awards will include three categories in which individuals have the chance to be honored:  

  • Distinguished Service Award  
  • Hartford’s Impact on the World Award  
  • Rising Practitioner Award  

In support of their work and commitment to giving back, the honorees in each category will be awarded $1,000 to donate to their chosen non-profit organization.
